I have bought a knob passage sets but the spindles (bar) are too short.
The product is supplied with a standard spindle for use on doors up to 45mm thick. In this case an extended spindle pack is required for doors up to 54mm thickness. this includes one spindle and 2 extended posts and fixing bolts. Back to top -

I have added an extension to my house and want more Knob Furniture to suit the existing ones fitted.
If the product is not featured on this website, it is not a product stocked in UK any longer. The only option is to contact ironmongery suppliers to find out if any old stock is available, or contact us in case we know stockists who hold old stock. Back to top -
I have bought Gainsborough latches to use with non Gainsborough (GHI) products, but they do not seem to be compatible.
GHI's latches work to a slightly different specification to the UK pattern. The standard UK bar is 8mm thick, whereas the GHI latch has a follower (spindle hole) of 7.85mm. Therefore Gainsborough latches cannot be used with normal UK pattern furniture. Back to top -
I have GHI Oval levers on my house, but the site only shows round backplates. Can I get Oval still?
The current UK distributor only supplies round backplate product, as the Oval pattern was previously stopped due to slow sales. Again, the only option is find out if any UK ironmongers have stock left over. Back to top -
I want to set the knobs further into the door, which latch should I use?
We always recomend Gainsborough latches, and would recomend the 95mm latch in this case, which are available in brass and chrome plated. Back to top -
I have old whitehall knobs on my house, and I would prefer Chrome backplates to bring my house up to date. What can I do?
The backplates are easily swapped over. Simply screw the backplate in an anti clockwise direction, and the whole set will come loose form the door. Using a small nail or pin, slide off the circlip holding the back plate on. Purchase new backplates in your chosen finish and re-fix to your door. Back to top -
I have rim locks on my door and want to use Gainsborough knobs in my house. Is this possible?
At present Gainsborough does not offer a product or adaptor to allow their Knob Furniture to be used with rim locks. An alternative product must be used. Back to top -
